Antique Rose Diamond Brooch, English circa 1780
- A rare and beautifully made Georgian brooch dating back to the late 18th century. Brightly foiled of openwork, circular form in a floral design of flowers and leaves. Set with rose diamonds, closed back in a silver setting.
- Jewellery of this period had foiled settings allowing the candlelight to reflect through the stones giving the jewel a soft coloured brilliance. This method was always used in jewellery of this period where candlelight was the only form of lighting. This brooch looks equally brilliant in a daylight setting.
- Measures 28mm across.
- Georgian, English circa 1780.
